Story

I've been living with advanced bowel cancer since 2009. For each person like me that's survived this long twenty have died, including people I shared jokes and hopes with in chemotherapy, some friends and one dear member of my family.

After two big ops and many cycles of chemo I entered remission, relieved and thankful. Then in 2014 a large tumour was discovered in my chest and I was told, again, that this was it. The Beating Bowel Cancer Forum became a source of great support for me as I learned from the experiences of others. And out of that came a chance - I learned of a revolutionary treatment called 'Cyberknife' and was inspired by the story of two fellow survivors who had their tumours destroyed by it. I followed their lead and, as of my last scan, there are no tumours visible in my body.

Like everyone else I'm inspired by the London Marathon and I'm thrilled to have had a place on the Beating Bowel Cancer team for 2017.
