This year, I'll be participating in a boxing match to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I've always wanted to do a boxing competition and 2018 is my year to do it! I'm terrified, but proud and ready to train! We will go on an intensive 8 week training course before entering the ring on the 4th of April in London. 

I'm raising money with one particular person in mind - her name was Alyssa. We met five years ago in Sydney through our mutual friend. She was there the night we adopted our kitty and they were the first to hold him - even before me! Years later, she was travelling in Europe and offered to cat-sit for us over Christmas for two weeks - we were so grateful to have someone familiar in our home! Who would have thought just a couple of years later Alyssa would be diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer. Sadly, she passed away last June despite trying various treatments - she was just 29 years old. She was very kind, gentle and loving and we really lost a special person last year. I only met her a few times, but she is someone I have had in mind - especially when I light candles in the candle holder she bought us.

I hope the money raised by our event goes towards researching a cure for cancer.
