Story

BOXING FOR OSCAR @ O2 Indigo

10/12/2015

15 months ago on the 19th June 2014 a close friend of mine David Cole, his lovely wife Hannah and their then 3 year old daughter Holly sadly lost their son and brother Oscar, aged just 16 months old.

Oscar’s death was sudden and unexpected after being admitted to hospital for treatment of osteomyelitis. Whilst being a dangerous infection of the bone, it can be treated routinely with antibiotics. Unfortunately, during Oscar’s treatment he contracted Rotovirus which in turn is thought to have led to encephalitis and ultimately his passing.

Now, I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and suffering my pal and his family went through and still experience to this day forward. What I do know is the remarkable bravery they have shown in taking their situation to make it a positive one for other families. They formed the charity www.thinkingofoscar.com and their initial primary goal is to raise £100,000 for the funding of a new Paediatric  procedures unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. To date they have raised an incredible £60,000 in a very short space of time.

In order to add to their efforts I have opted to step into the ring on 10th December this year at the O2 indigo rooms for a one time only skirmish with ‘the sweet science’ of boxing. Show 'Coley' and his family and www.thinkingofoscar.com your support. Please donate as below and/or come along on the night for great pre-christmas fun and for an amazing cause.
