Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This year, British Sugar will be celebrating 100 years of the UK Beet Sugar Industry.  To help commemorate this significant milestone, a core team of employees will be taking part in a charity cycle ride across five of our sites. For this event, we will be donating all proceeds to East Anglia's Children's Hospice (EACH), a charity that is close to many employees of British Sugar.

The Route

The route will be a circular loop of approximately 300 miles, visiting five of the sites that’s the equivalent of cycling from London to Paris!

Our cycle team will comprise of ten to twelve riders; three of our riders (Neil Fyfe, Paul Frampton and Trevor Smith) will be taking on the whole 300 mile route, joined by a small team of riders from each site who will ride one stage of the route.

DAY ONE: 60 miles - Friday 22nd June

Starting in the afternoon at our Head Office in Peterborough, the riders will head North - East to our Newark site.  For this stage of the ride the core riders will be joined by Nicola Goy, Richard Simpkins and Lewis Johnston.

DAY TWO: 130 miles - Saturday 23rd June

The longest leg of the challenge, day two will see the riders heading out from Newark to Wissington, for this stage the core riders will be joined by Michael Burton and Thomas Allsopp. Then from Wissington Cantley where there will be an overnight stay, for this stage of the cycle Mark Goddard, John McGeeney and Russel Jones will be joining.

DAY THREE: 110 miles - Sunday 24th June

The final day will see the riders start out from Cantley, heading to Bury St Edmunds, for this stage of the cycle Kevin Shales, Francis Sykes and Lewis Brooker will be joining.  Then the final push back to Peterborough and a welldeserved rest!  For the final stage of the cycle Michaela Spooner, Andy Clark, Michael Bond and Peter Bond will be joining the core riders.

All donations, no matter how much, will be gratefully received!
