When she was only 4 months old my Wife and I discovered that my daughter Katya had a genetic heart abnormality, when she was rushed to hospital.This news came as a great shock to us, as it would be to any parent, but we were given hope that this could be successfully treated following an operation.

Katya underwent open heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital over Christmas and New Year of last year and we were eternally grateful for the level of care she received there. For this reason I was determined to give something back.

I successfully completed the London Marathon in 2000 so it was fitting that I would run this again 15 years older and wiser but certainly not as fit as I was at 28.  

Please give generously so that others can have the same hope that we had.
