Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday August 28th  I will be leaping from a 70m cliff over an 80m deep flooded quarry on one of the UK's longest zip wires. Why ? I'm hoping to raise money for the Dementia Research Unit at UCL.

The world's biggest killer today is Dementia ! This cruel disease has no respect for age or station in life. It steals away the past, robs the sufferer of a future, and takes them away from their loved ones right before their eyes. If you have ever experienced this illness within your family or circle of friends, you will know exactly what I mean.

The research unit at UCL will make medical history by finding a cure, or disease modifying therapy but they cannot do it alone. They need help.

The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation has partnered with the unit for 2016/17 and has already raised over 2m from carrier bag sales. Every contribution helps, so  during Iceland's charity week, you are likely to see lots of fundraising events in and around your local stores.  Some intrepid/crazy staff members (ahem) are going the extra mile and literally jumping off a cliff to raise money.

I'm no dare devil or extreme sportswoman, but I have worked with dementia sufferers and their families and hope and pray that one day there will be a cure.

Please share this page and give what you can.

This is part of the fundraising effort from Iceland at CHELTENHAM 0648

Thank you !
