Professor Neil Harrison Cox
Sadly, my husband, Neil, died last year. He was a renowned Consultant Dermatologist based in Carlisle. He always strove for the highest standards in the care of his patients and many remember him with gratitude. Neil enjoyed writing papers on clinical dermatology for journals and co-wrote several award winning dermatology text books as well as being co-editor of the main British Dermatology Text Book.
We lived in Cumbria because we both enjoyed the countryside and Neil was a keen fisherman and spent many an hour on the River Eden trying to catch the elusive salmon.
Many are surprised to hear that Neil was a rock music fan and could spot the intro to any 70s song and probably where and when it was recorded.
Neil and I had two children, David and Kathy, who are both at uni. David is in his third year at Sheffield studying Mechanical Engineering and Kathy is taking Psychology at York.
David, Kathy and I are running in the Great North Run this September in aid of The British Skin Foundation. My brother, Robert, and two of his children, Joe and Emily complete the Team. In fact, running in Neil's memory for the British Skin Foundation was all Robert's idea. He can take all the credit and all the blame for the blisters!

20th June 2010 Fiona and Robert's training getting serious now! We ran along the towpath of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal for what felt like a day and then had a full English breakfast on a Narrow Boat cafe. We felt we deserved it. Poppy, Fiona's dog had a lovely time too. (See photos)
13th September 2010 Well the run is nearly upon us. We have all been training in our different ways. Fi has been running up and down hills in Cumbria and swimming, David has been training whilst in China and Kathy is back running up and down the hockey pitch. Robert's family have been training hard too.
A BIG THANK YOU to every one for all their support and generous donations. This will help keep us going on Sunday when we need encouragement as the miles go by.
WE DID IT!!!
We all finished with very weary and sore legs.
It was SO good to cross the finish line.
The final run in seemed to go on for ever - 800m, 400m, 200m.
David put in a brilliant time of 1hr 49 and came 6005th out of 54,000.
Joe finished in 2hr 15, Kathy 2hr 25, Fi 2hr 30, and Robert and Helen(substituting for Emily) 2hr 40.
A FANTASTIC EFFORT BY EVERYONE.
THANK YOU so much to everyone who has sponsored us and encouraged us over the last few months of training and especially to Jilly and Emma for race day support.
This web page will remain open for further donations so please keep them coming!!
