London2Brighton Challenge 2013 · 25 May 2013 to 26 May 2013 ·
This year I'm doing something!
I've been thinking and, well, thinking about doing something proactive for a little while - and i like a bit of a challenge so have signed myself up for the London2Brighton Challenge - it's 100km (62miles) non-stop - and no i won't be jogging at all - walking all the way! May 25/26 2013

I'm raising money for Cancer Research UK, as many of you know my mum died of bowel cancer a few years ago, and my sister has also had breast cancer and been fortunate to survive - as well as close friends having been affected directly or indirectly by it.
41,000 people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer, in the UK, this year.
where money raised for Cancer Research UK goes:
• £100 - buys more than 1100 'cyrotubes' used to store cancer cells and tumour samples.
• £500 - pays for a training afternoon for a team of Cancer Information Nurses, developing skills to deal with emotionally difiicult calls, speak sensitively about bereavement and loss, and talk to young people and children about cancer.
• £2000 - pays for three people to join a clinical trial.
• £5000 - pays for special gloves for over 90 researchers, retrieving samples stored in liquid nitrogen tanks.
So i'm hoping to raise at least £620 - thats £10 per mile, and aiming to do it in under 28 hours - jill will be my mental and emotional support during training and throughout the gruellling challenge, welcoming me at the finish line, and a not too distant pint!
So please dig deep, or shallow, and donate now - as it all helps.
cheers - and cherish your loved ones

please keep it coming - when im feeling shattered out training, thinking about peoples sponsorship and belief in my 'having a go' definitely keeps the mental attitude positve! x
