Story

Welcome to the page of Team CAC - (Climbing Against Cancer - and cacking ourselves along the way!!!)

We are a group of friends from the school mum circuit who have all experienced, directly or indirectly, the effects of cancer.

In May 2018 I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer. I had a fantastic team of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, doctors and nurses, meaning the melanoma was found quickly, removed and a wider excision performed. In August I was given the all clear and of course this has left me feeling extremely lucky and grateful for everyone involved in my care.

Team CAC was formed and we are hoping to raise lots of money for the fantastic Helen Rollason charity, in the hope of making a difference to the lives of those who are living with cancer,

At the end of May we will be armed with a compass and an emergency whistle and will be Climbing Against Cancer, by climbing Mount Snowdon. Then we come on to the cac(king) element of our trip... zipping 138mph down the fastest zip wire in the world.

This will be a huge challenge for us and we, and the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, appreciate every single penny you can generously donate.

Here is a little about The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity and why they are so special:

"Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting people whose lives are touched by cancer. Our support centres in Essex, London and Hertfordshire are vital in helping people living with cancer. The centres offer a range of complementary therapies to patients in an environment of peace and tranquility, including counselling, reflexology, aromatherapy, manual lymphatic drainage and support groups. The centres are for patients with all types of cancer at all stages, whether newly diagnosed or longer term, throughout and after completion of treatment.Founded in 1999, the charity is the legacy of BBC broadcaster Helen Rollason, whose vision was:

“Good quality of life while coping with cancer is the most important gift a sick person can receive. It should be available to everyone.”

Providing support for cancer patients’ emotional well-being alongside their medical treatment continues to be at the core of the charity’s mission.
We also support research and clinical drugs trials relating to cancer with an annual grant made to Broomfield Hospital and The North Middlesex Hospital."

Thank you so so much!
