Somehow, I don't think it is going to be this nice in Lake Windermere in September...

On 13 September I will be swimming in the Great North Swim, 1 mile across Lake Windermere. I'm doing this in aid of Mind, the mental health charity (it's not just masochism that is motivating me to swim across a freezing cold, windswept lake). They do excellent work both helping people suffering from mental illness and raising awareness of and campaigning on mental health issues. Amazingly, around 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems in any year but there is little understanding of mental illness (myself included) and still a great deal of stigma associated with it.

I have been a bit slow to get started on fundraising and Marie (who I'm doing the swim with) has just pointed out that I need to raise £75 by 13 August...
