Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are a group of 7 students from the university of Cumbria planning to canoe the full lenght of the Caledonian Canal (COAST TO COAST) from Fort William to Inverness. If your not sure where this is then check Our Map.
The total distance is over 60m and Loch ness is just one section of it - that alone is 23 miles long and 230m deep in some areas, with up to 5ft waves during the frequent bad weather that funnels along the valley. Due to the severity of the journey there are strong training requirements and the group are spending considerable time on this between now and the trip.
This will be a long trip with long days of canoeing and cold nights wilderness camping. It could take us up to a week to complete this trip, depending on weather conditions. We set off from Frot William on 18th April.
Loch ness is the largest body of water in the UK (by volume) so we thought Water Aid would be the perfect charity to raise money for on this trip, as 884 million people (1 in 8) around the world don't have access to safe drinking water.
To find out more about water aid and the great things they do check out this link: Water Aid. Just as an idea, £20 trains 4 handpump mechanics in India.
We will be covering all the costs associated with the trip ourselves so every penny you donate goes straight to Water Aid.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, Thank You.
