Cambridge Assessment is raising money to help Red Balloon to pay for renovations to their kitchen. Here's a message from Red Balloon about what the kitchen means to them...
The kitchen plays a central role in community life and
learning at Red Balloon. It is the first room that students see when they come into the centre and is therefore crucial in creating an environment in which students can feel safe, learn and flourish. Every day our cook prepares a mid-morning snack and a healthy cooked lunch for students and staff to eat together. This provides structure and routine to the day, gives students a vital opportunity to develop their interpersonal skills, challenge anxieties around food, eating
and socialising in a group. Many of our students also enjoy cooking lessons, learning about nutrition and putting together recipes and meal plans for their peers and teachers. The kitchen is also a place for staff to gather at the end of the day to relax and share information. The kitchen is at the heart what Red Balloon is and what it does.
