Story
So, 24 hrs ago I embarked on a run that would turn me into a living statue! It's not my fault I'm going to spend a day in bed, my legs give me no choice! It really was difficult to endure but it was so worth it. Crossing that line I got a tad emotional. Massive achievement for me from where I was a few years ago. Anything is possible if you want it enough!! Thank you all for supporting me through my adventure, there was a point at about 19 miles where I thought I'd have to give up but I couldn't let you all down so kept running (although a lot slower).... the last 10k split took me about 25 mins longer than the first three 10k splits... guess I must've been slightly fatigued!! Official time was 4:05:23. A tad frustrating I couldn't get in that few minutes quicker and do sub-4hrs but I'm thrilled to have finished in a respectable time and don't think I could've tried any harder! Thanks again to those who have donated, I appreciate your support immensely. For those who still haven't but want to. The fantastic news is you still can! Big love to all :)
Guys and Gals I'm absolutely overwhelmed by the donations! The last few days they've piled up and it means so much to me to have the support of such generous people. I'll be crossing that finish line even if I have to clamber and crawl. You're all legends!!
Ok so today ran the furthest I've ever gone!! Only a few more days of hard training before I ease off for the final 10 days prior to the run. I'm not sure how far I went or how long it took today! It was so cold that my phone actually switched off and I couldn't turn it back on... especially as my fingers were frozen too. The last I checked I was at about 25k, and I probably ran for an extra few before I noticed. I think I went around 30km in around 2.5 hrs... Anyway, went well so am looking forward to getting this done! Thank you to everyone who's donated so far. This has been a hard journey through training, especially here in freezing London where I've actually run in the snow a few times. But in two weeks it will all be worth it!! If you're on here and you haven't donated already, please do! Every little amount helps, even if it's only a few quid or dollars! It's going towards such a great cause and something I feel so strongly for. cuddles...
Thank you so much to all those who have donated so far! Feeling confident of hitting the target of £750. I'll be attempting a 33 kilometre run this Sunday morning through London. I'll keep you posted if I survive and if so, how long it takes. If I can do that then I'm sure I can go the extra 9 k's on the 14th! x
Cameron Taylor was a healthy 'happy go lucky' 22 yr old enjoying life when he gradually became tired, lethargic and generally unwell. After 6 months of continuous symptoms and no diagnosis, finally an x-ray uncovered an 8 x 5 inch tumour resting in his chest.
After a biopsy taken from swollen glands, appearing as lumps in his neck, it was confirmed to be stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma. He then underwent a 5 month course of intense chemotherapy, known as Escalated BEACOPP.
Recovery was hard and long and still he suffers from recurrent lethargy, however in the last 6 months he has gradually built up his strength and fitness with the aim of running a marathon - a dream barely imaginable 2 years ago when lying in hospital for days on end with wires and tubes plugged into his body.
Now able and fit he wishes to raise awareness, show support to others, show that anything is possible, and raise money for World Cancer Research Fund, a charity dedicated to the prevention of cancer.
Please donate & support Cam, and help raise funds for what is an amazing cause!
