#1000 Acts of Resilient Defiance
The first 1000 were mine. The next 1,000 are ours.
In June 2023, I made a promise. My husband Dave was living with neuroendocrine cancer, a cancer that too often goes unrecognised, misunderstood and diagnosed too late. I couldn't stop his cancer. I couldn't make the difficult days disappear. But I could do something.
So I went into the sea. And I kept going.
For 1,000 consecutive days, through winter storms, freezing mornings, exhaustion and everything life threw at us, I swam to make this invisible cancer visible.
What began as one small act grew into something extraordinary. People joined in, shared our story, raised money and helped us reach thousands more people.
But cancer doesn't stop at day 1000. And neither does our determination to make a difference.
Now it's your turn.
1000 Acts of Resilient Defiance is an invitation to do something, however small, to help change the story of neuroendocrine cancer.
Swim for seven days. Walk 100 miles. Run a race. Take on a personal challenge. Bring your workplace together. Organise a coffee morning. Give something up. Try something new. Or simply share our story and help one more person hear about this cancer.
It doesn't have to be difficult. It doesn't have to be spectacular. It just has to matter.
Every act is a small refusal to accept that neuroendocrine cancer should remain invisible.
What are we raising money for?
Daily Dip 4 Dave is now a registered charity, dedicated to raising awareness of neuroendocrine cancer and supporting research focused on earlier diagnosis and better outcomes. Our first fundraising target is £10,000.
Every donation helps us work towards a future where neuroendocrine cancer is recognised earlier, understood better and talked about more openly.
Be part of the next 1000.
Choose your act. Make it yours. Invite others to join you. Fundraise if you can. Donate if you can. Share the story regardless. Because one person can start something. But together, we can make it impossible to ignore.
