Visit the charity's profileWould you like to take on a big challenge this summer, but something you can do your way, and to raise money for a great cause at the same time? Our 100k My Way Challenge might be just the thing for you!
The challenge is simply to complete 100km. How you do that is entirely up to you.
-We'd suggest running, jogging, walking, cycling your 100km, or a combination, but you could choose anything. Rollerblading maybe?!
-You can choose your own timeframe too, to suit your other commitments, your fitness levels and how hard you want to make it! Three months from when you start is probably a sensible maximum though and we'll be officially closing the challenge at the end of September.
-And within that timeframe you can break it up however you want. You might want to do it all in a few big runs, get to 100km by running every day for a month or build it up gradually. You could even make a team and share out the distance.
-Whatever you do, enjoy yourself and, most importantly, stay safe. Remember you could do laps of the garden or run on a treadmill but, wherever you do it, please make sure you follow government advice around social distancing concerning coronavirus. Don't push yourself too hard and, if you've any questions over your fitness, get a medical opinion to make sure it's the right thing to be doing.
A Mile in Her Shoes helps women to get moving as they move on from homelessness and overcome other problems. It offers free indoor and outdoor running and fun fitness activities in a safe space, plus sports bras, trainers and all the support women recovering from homelessness may need to take part.
By taking part you'll be helping women access these opportunities and all the benefits they can bring. During lockdown our face to face activities were of course suspended but we've been gradually starting up again where and when it's safe to do so and carefully observing all government and UK Athletics guidelines.
1. Choose your challenge! It's so flexible but having a plan for how you want to make up the 100km should help keep you motivated and help you fundraise too!
2. Ask family and friends to sponsor you. You can set up a fundraising page here, and you can also donate or pay in your sponsorship money on this page.
3. Start your challenge! Track your distance however you choose .If you use Strava to track your kilometres you can link it to your fundraising page. Your exploits will automatically get uploaded to your page so everyone can see how your challenge is going. See here for instructions.
4. Tell people how it's going. You can add updates to your fundraising page and post on social media, using the hashtag #100kMyWay and tagging the charity (@InHerShoesHQ) if you can. You can also share a link to your fundraising page. We'd love to see photos too!
Good luck, have fun and, most importantly, stay safe! Thank you so much for your support; it makes a huge difference.
