When schools shut down in COVID-19, we quickly pivoted to launch our signature Partners in Learning programme for children at risk of dropping out of education. Using a child-to-child model, Big Partners are trained to deliver playful early learning activities to Little Partners and become champions of education in their communities.
To date, we have reached over 1500 children in urban slum communities through our innovative programme. The results have been beautiful. The older children developed key leadership skills and blossomed into confident, champions of education.
Before the session, if anyone talked to me I would look down and would not share things with anyone. Now if someone talks to me I can look at them and talk to them. Big Partner
The younger children were able to stay connected to learning and we saw significant improvements in their foundational numeracy, literacy and motor skills - for instance by the end of our pilot round, the number of preschool kids who could count from 1-10 had doubled.
Why support us?
We are a small organisation with big impact, addressing urgent challenges of our time. We see, count and care about vulnerable children that few others currently serve, including those from refugee and migrant communities who settle on the margins of cities. Early on, many children on and of the streets are forced to choose between work and school. Our programmes help attach joy to learning and motivate children to stay in education.
We have evidence of our value and impact and now are in a position to grow our reach, with exciting new activities and content. Help us take the next steps, and take our work to more children in new cities.
