Breastfeeding isn't always easy. Many families need help and support to reach their breastfeeding goals, for all kinds of reasons. The 1:1 Support Fund enables local families to get as much free support as they need:
- after a difficult birth, breastfeeding can be hard to establish and sustain
- the family may never have seen breastfeeding in action until their own baby arrives, and need lots of information about how breastfeeding works
- if a baby has high muscle tone, a head-turning bias or a tongue tie, breastfeeding can be really challenging
- there may be specific concerns requiring ongoing specialist support, such as faltering growth, allergies, reflux etc
- mum may be struggling with mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression
South Cumbria Breastfeeding Support believes that EVERY family should be able to access whatever help and support they need in order to reach their own breastfeeding goal. Sometimes that means that we provide ongoing 1:1 support to families through videocalls, in-person support, and emails. On the 'open market' a 1:1 consultation with an IBCLC would cost between £75 and £200. We never ask families to pay for the support they receive from us (and our IBCLC doesn't charge SCBS as much as that, either).
We feel that it is society's responsibility to make breastfeeding support freely available to everyone who wants it. YOU can be a part of that supportive society, by donating to this campaign. Thank you!
