Christine has walked a staggering 50 miles in the final week of her challenge!
Making a total of 160.82 miles walked in March!
What a fantastic achievement we are all proud of you! 👏🏻
Just shy of hitting her £500 target but we are keeping it open as she’s been promised some more pennies to come in still, so if anyone could help support her it would be greatly appreciated thank you 🫶🏻
“A very warm 8.46 miles today, the final day of my challenge, a bit all over the place, Vala helping me finish off the challenge in style! I’m lucky I live in a lovely rural location with lots of lovely village walks
We came across a ‘bevy’ of about 50 swans having a breather at the side of the river. A very regal finale to the challenge. 🦢👑
Thank you everyone that has supported so far, it means so much 🫶🏻
Would I do a challenge like this again? Yes 🙌🏻 (probably not in the middle of Summer 🥵🤣)
Third week done! 33.81 miles walked, that’s a total of 110.82!
A mere 33.81 miles this week 😏 Good job March doesn't end till a week on Monday!
This week has been hard going, work commitments - late nights and early starts on consecutive days have made things difficult, I’m worn out, trying to fit in extra walks where I can (even on the hottest day of the year so far 🥵) a lot of pressure on now to hit my target
Bring on week 4!
Thank you so much for everyone that has donated so far, it means so much, please help me reach my target 🫶🏻
Second week done! 37.41 miles walked, that’s a total of 77.01!
Another good week although not as warm. Weather needs to make its mind up what it’s doing!
Got caught in a few showers Thursday and Friday which included hailstones, ouch they hurt 😫
Chose a bit of a different route Saturday, & made it down to the river, Vala as usual takes her job as wildlife scout very seriously 🤣
Bring on week 3! I’m on track to do this, just over halfway in both miles walked and money donated!
Thank you so much for everyone that has donated so far, it means so much 🫶🏻
First week done! 39.6 miles in
This great weather is making it easy to get out and about, sun is shining, first signs of Spring are all around, the wild child Vala is keen to be up and out sniffing on the trail of wildlife!
Aimed to do more this week but life and appointments got in the way!
Onwards and upwards ! I can do this! Thank you so much for everyone that has donated so far
Hello, I'm Christine! I will be walking 150 miles in March to support Akita Rescue & Welfare Trust (UK), raising essential funds for many Akitas in need.
For those unfamiliar with me, I am one of the trustees here at ARW. My passion for Akitas began in 2007 when I was first owned by the lovely Moll, who taught me nearly everything I know about the breed. In 2012, I welcomed my second Akita, Kento, after the loss of my White Shepherd x Lab.
Soon after, I got involved with the charity, and in 2017, I added my third Akita, Storm, to the fold (I was a failed fosterer!). I then became a trustee in 2018.
As the years passed, I sadly had to say goodbye to both Moll and Kento. In 2023, I welcomed a whirlwind of an Akita puppy, Vala, into my life. Later that year, I faced the heart-wrenching loss of my beloved Storm.
I have dedicated myself to self-improvement and have lost nearly seven stone in weight. With an energetic dog like Vala, my new passion is enjoying long walks. Thanks to my weight loss and having such an active dog, I feel fitter and more active than ever.
It’s not an easy time in rescue, with dogs being bred from, given up and abandoned faster than homes can be found, rescues are full and over stretched. Each kennel space costs upwards of £4500 a year!
Can you step up and consider donating to my cause?
