Story
1st Portishead Scout Group has been providing an opportunity for all our Scouts (Boys and Girls) to experience the International Scouting Centre in Kandersteg Switzerland . Opening in 1923, it has been the site for a Worldwide Jamboree ever since. Young people from all over the world meet and share experiences with others from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities....so in early 2020 we started planning the next trip for 2023, unaware that we were about to have to massively curtail our Scouting programme and events for the next 2 years.
So here we now are, completing the final planning and fundraising for this years visit. Scouting is all about challenging yourself and overcoming what seemed impossible, so what better way when we are in the mountains is to go where no 1st Portishead trip has done before...

We are planning on running activities such as River Rafting, an overnight hike to a mountain hut, trekking up on to a glacier, cable cars and joining other Scout groups from around the world.

As part of the fundraising our Scouts, between them, are challenging themselves to walk, run, cycle, swim (or any other method of movement) the equivalent distance of Portishead to Kandersteg
some 1,083km!
We will put regular updates on progress on the Just Giving Page, and a champion for the scout who covers the most distance each week!

Thank you for taking your time to read this and we appreciate all the support!!
