The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileOn December 9th 2018, Marco and Mohamed and Adrian will be trekking Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, otherwise known as the highest mountain in Africa, reaching a whopping 19,349 ft, to raise money for an urgently needed anaesthetic machine in Malawi.
Pirimiti Hospital is one of three health centres which Maternity Worldwide has supported as part its Integrated Maternal Health Programme in Zomba District, Malawi. As part of the programme we currently provide new born and maternal healthcare education groups in rural areas, microfinance loans to help empower women and their families and bicycle ambulances to access care at a healthcare centre in remote communities.
Sadly, the existing anaesthetic machine in Pirimiti Hospital recently broke and it cannot be repaired. Currently it is not possible to give safe general anaesthetics (only spinal ones are possible).
With your help Marco and Mohamed , Adrian and would love to support Sister Mary and her team to buy a new machine, which costs £15,000, so that life saving surgery including caesarean sections can take place.
At Maternity Worldwide we have a vision of a world where all women, wherever they live, can give birth safely and without fear. Your kind donation and continued support will help to bring that vision closer. Any amount that you can give to our 15th Anniversary Appeal, big or small, really will make a huge difference.
Thank you very much for your generosity, we really do appreciate it.
