Story
It started as a mad idea...use the steep slopes and winding paths of our beautiful park to race homemade carts for all to watch and enjoy.

Well it happened and the first Telegraph Hill Soapbox Derby ran in Sept. 2017 and has been much talked about and lovingly remembered ever since. The third derby is coming after being delayed in 2020 because of the corona virus. A new date in Autumn 2023 will be announced soon. We're hoping this will be the best yet but this means we need some help with the increased costs involved in organizing and running the day. You can find more about both the previous and upcoming derbies HERE .

Most of the work involved in making the event happen is done by unpaid local volunteers. Donated money will go towards the costs of hiring the park, collecting and installing straw bale crash barriers and race-track boarding, safety fencing, van hire, insurance, paramedic cover, hiring portable toliets, providing a public address system, ensuring crowd safety and happiness, cleaning up, buying radio equipment for race officials and timekeepers, publicity and providing prizes and trophies for winners.

Please help towards the costs involved by giving a donation to ensure we can run this amazing, thrilling and fun local event.
