And that leaves you so ecstatic you want to scream out loud. That's now a reality for those signed up to undertake a charity tandem skydive and raise funds for Liverpool University Hospitals. You will be jumping out of a plane from 2-3 miles up, so nothing scary there!
After being kitted up and having a safety briefing, you will be attached to your instructor for the flight up which will take 8-12 minutes. Once the flight has reached altitude they will move towards the door of the plane for the skydive itself.
The high adrenaline freefall starts as soon as you jump from the plane. You will literally fall through the air and rush towards the earth at about 125 mph for approximately 30 seconds or 60 seconds, depending on your chosen altitude for your skydive. The rush is spectacular!
At 5000 ft the tandem instructor will deploy the parachute and this will slow down the rate of descent to about 30mph. The canopy produces the wind resistance needed to slow down for landing. The journey down to the landing area has pretty views and you will now be able to enjoy the quiet of the parachute ride compared to the rush of freefall.
Once they have landed safely, it's time for congratulations all round.
This is a very exciting challenge for those taking part but the main aim of the challenge is to raise funds our Liverpool University Hospitals Charity.
Thank you for undertaking this challenge and fundraising on behalf of staff and patients at Liverpool Hospitals you are very much valued and appreciated.
