Story
Seton Hall Prep's Crew team began a proud tradition in October 2021 with the launch of the first annual Pirate Pride Ergathon fundraiser. This event not only raises critical funds for the upcoming Spring Season, but also provides a fun and competitive team-building day where the boys test themselves on the Ergometers (rowing machines) in a 2k meter race.
Since that first Ergathon, the program has grown tremendously. The team has consistently brought home medals at major regattas, including an impressive 28 medals at the state championships in recent seasons. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the 2024 Ergathon raised almost $33,000 — a record year that allowed us to invest in much-needed equipment and training opportunities.
This year, our goal is to raise $40,000. Each rower is asked to secure a minimum of $600 in pledges for this effort. These funds help us upgrade boats and gear, giving our athletes a competitive edge against some of the top high school rowing programs in the region. This year we are looking to secure funds for a new four boat. As in past years, a portion of the proceeds will also support Rise Against Hunger, with our team contributing to purchasing and packaging meals for communities in need around the world.
The SHP Crew team proudly competes against high school rowing programs across the tri-state area, Pennsylvania, and beyond. Racing includes prestigious regattas such as The Head of the Charles, The Stotesbury Cup, Garden State Championships, City Championships, and Scholastic Nationals. Many of these events take place on the historic Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, with racing nearly every weekend in April and May.
Please help our team continue to grow, compete, and embody the spirit of Seton Hall Prep by donating to the Pirate Pride Ergathon!
