Destination Imagination is a project based, student-driven program that teaches kids to be innovative problem solvers. Using STEAM, teams of students collaborate, think outside the box, and create unique solutions to one of seven different challenges in preparation for a fun, problem-solving competition. In 22-23, GCS brought Destination Imagination to the Middle School with two teams. Both teams placed first in the state in their challenges and went to Global Finals in May 2023. In the 23-24 school year, DI at GCS expanded to three teams in the Middle School, two teams in the Lower School, and a Primary Building Rising Stars team! Four of these teams went on to compete at the State and then Global levels. This 24-25 school year, the program has expanded to the Upper School and retained three middle school teams and a Rising Stars Primary Building team. We anticipate having teams make it to compete at the State and Global level once again!
The DI program is incredibly unique in giving students the opportunity to see they are capable of solving complex problems and managing large and complicated tasks as a team. It does take a lot support to keep it going! We are so proud of our DI Dragons; let's make sure they can show off all they have learned and achieved in front of larger audiences at the State and Global levels!
