The Children’s Bereavement Centre supports children and young people aged 3–18 and their families. We provide free, specialist support to help families navigate the trauma of the death, or terminal illness, of someone they love. Thank you for helping us be there when they need us most.

Story

Christmas is a time for family, friends, laughter and plenty of festive fun. But for children and young people facing the death or terminal illness of someone they love it can also be an incredibly difficult time of year.

That’s why this December we’re asking you to pull on your favourite Christmas jumper and join our annual Christmas Jumper Challenge- helping to raise vital funds for the Children’s Bereavement Centre.

It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3...!

1. Get a group together- whether that’s your friends, family, work colleagues, schoolmates or community group.

2. Put on your Christmas jumper on Friday 11 December, or choose another day in December that works for you.

3. Make a donation to help us support local children and young people through bereavement.

And why stop at the jumper? You could make a whole event of it! Have a festive fuddle at work, bake some mince pies for a bake sale, or have your own competition for the funniest, brightest or most outrageous jumper!

However you choose to take part, we’d love to see your photos. Tag us on your socials or send your best festive snaps to Katiegibson@childrensbereavementcentre.co.uk and you could even be crowned our 2026 Most Christmassy Photo winner!

Your jumper can make a difference. Behind all the Christmas jumpers and festive fun you’ll be helping children and young people who are struggling with the death or terminal illness of someone they love.

Heres how your donation could help:

£10 could provide a teddy bear called Hope, which is given to a child when they attend their first session with us.

£25 could pay for one hour of bereavement or art therapy, giving a young person a safe space to talk, create and begin to work through their feelings.

At the Children’s Bereavement Centre, we believe that no child should have to face the death or terminal illness of someone they love alone. Your support helps us make sure that children and families can access the support they need, including at Christmas when the loss of someone special can feel particularly difficult.

Its an amazing place, with fantastic people. We would be lost at times of sorrow without you

And don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid box when you donate. If you’re eligible, it means your donation could be worth an extra 25% to us at no extra cost to you.

So, dig out your Christmas jumper, get your friends and colleagues involved and have some festive fun this December!

Together we can raise money, spread a little Christmas cheer and bring hope to children who need it.

Because sometimes, a very silly jumper can make a very serious difference.
