Story
Since launching the first Pirate Pride Erg-a-thon in 2021, Seton Hall Prep Crew has built a tradition centered on competition, teamwork, and giving back.
Each year, our rowers take on a 2,000-meter challenge on the erg while raising the funds needed to keep SHP Crew competing at the highest level. The results speak for themselves. The Pirates have earned medals at some of the nation’s premier regattas, including the Stotesbury Cup and SRAA National Championships, while a growing number of SHP alumni are continuing their rowing careers at the collegiate level.
Last year, the Pirate Pride Erg-a-thon raised a record $86,000, helping the program purchase three fours and make important equipment upgrades.
This year, we’re setting our sights on $60,000 — and a new eight.
Every gift helps provide our rowers with the boats, equipment, and resources they need to compete against outstanding programs throughout the region and at major events including the Head of the Charles, Stotesbury Cup, Garden State Championships, City Championships, and Scholastic Nationals.
But Pirate Pride is about more than winning races.
Each year, our team also uses the Erg-a-thon to give back. This year, a portion of the proceeds will support the Thomas A. Reynolds Jr. ’48 Scholarship Fund at Seton Hall Prep, helping provide the opportunity of a Prep education to future generations of young men.
Our goal is ambitious, and every rower is being challenged to do his part. With the support of family, friends, alumni, and the entire Prep community, we know we can get there.
Help us pull together, race forward, and give back. Support the Pirate Pride Erg-a-thon today!
