While we support carers of all ages, this Christmas we are shining a light on young carers like 15-year-old Leyla.
Leyla helps care for her mum, who has ME and uses a wheelchair, as well as her younger brother, who has additional needs. When her dad suddenly became seriously ill last year, Leyla took on even more responsibilities at home.
Through Caring Together’s Young Carers Forum, Leyla has found friendship, understanding and the reassurance that she isn’t alone.
“The biggest thing is knowing you're not alone. That's what young carers services have given me.”
We currently support more than 500 young carers, with the youngest being just four years old. Thank you for supporting Matty's Caring Together December Dashes.
