We’re the champion of every Durham student. We’re interested in the things that matter to them. We stand up for their rights. We bring them together. We celebrate their success. We’re working to make sure that students have the power and opportunity to transform their time at Durham.

Story

DUCFS 2027: THE REVERIE explores this psychological act of retreat. In an era defined by overstimulation, uncertainty, and emotional fatigue, the instinct to retreat inward has never been stronger. Rather than presenting escapism as passive avoidance, the show frames it as an active, deeply human process of world-building - a deliberate drifting between what is and what is longed for.

Our goal is to support Crisis Newcastle Skylight’s education and learning programme, helping people experiencing homelessness build the skills and confidence needed for independent living. Our funding will support the annual running costs of a Lead Worker, Life Skills and Employability Coaches, and a Volunteer and Involvement Lead; enabling Crisis to deliver housing, budgeting, life skills, creative arts, employability, and volunteering support.

We will also be supporting DUCFS Launchpad, our creative outreach platform, which aims to address the needs of the North East by providing funding and volunteer support to local projects. Through the Launchpad Ignition Grant, students can apply for seed funding to set up their own initiatives. With a focus on local communities, arts, and music, Launchpad supports projects such as the Launchpad DJ School, RT Projects, and many others.

100% of profits from all fundraising activity will go directly to Crisis UK and DUCFS Launchpad. Of the total amount raised, the first £8,000 raised will go to Launchpad. The next £180,000 raised will go to our charity partner. Any funds raised above £188,000 will then be split 50/50 between Launchpad and Crisis UK.
