Story
For most, Christmas is a time of joy and celebration. But for families with a loved one in prison, it can be a painful reminder of separation. With Scotlands prison population at an all-time high, more families than ever are facing Christmas without a parent, partner or loved one. For children, this can mean missing someone special, feeling the stigma of having a parent in prison and facing financial pressures at an already difficult time. Through Prison Fellowship Scotlands Angel Tree project, we bring hope and joy to families by working with prison family centres across Scotland to organise Christmas parties and provide gifts for children. Its more than a present or a party. It gives children a reason to smile and parents in prison an opportunity to show their love and connect with their children at Christmas.
