Hampshire Hospitals Charity is the charity supporting patients, staff and volunteers at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and Alton hospitals.

Story

On Sunday 5th July, a small group of our clinical paediatric team will be taking on a 50 mile cycle ride between Basingstoke and Winchester neonatal units to support neonatal care and to mark 50 years of the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM). This challenge will see seven colleagues come together all in support of our smallest and most vulnerable patients.

Dr Alistair Ewing, who is organising the ride, said ‘We’re taking on this challenge to help raise vital funds for new equipment in our neonatal units. With limited NHS budgets, accessing the newest, innovative technology often isn’t an option. We’re incredibly excited to fundraise for our neonatal team to purchase equipment like ECG monitors that will allow us to better track babies’ heart rates during those critical first moments of life, making a real difference to the care we can provide’.

The team, made up of a mix of seasoned cyclists and those willing to take on a new challenge, is Alistair Ewing, Nick Ward, Tara Brown, Alex Nowack, Sophie Hadfield, Kelly McLoughlin and Martha Wyles.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of west Berkshire and cares for patients in Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and Alton hospitals. As their charity, Hampshire Hospitals Charity raise funds to support their patients, staff and volunteers. They do this through refurbishing wards, investing in equipment and research, funding staff welfare initiatives and so much more.

Thank you for supporting us and Hampshire Hospitals Charity, every donation makes a big difference.
