We bring stutterers, allies and employers together to learn how to create stuttering-inclusive work places. Our work helps people who stutter to enjoy fulfilling working lives and enables employers to unleash the talents of the 50 million people of employable age globally who stutter.

Story

We are an award-winning charity working to transform the world of work for people who stutter.

At 50 Million Voices (50MV), one of our biggest areas of focus is providing free Practice Interview events for people who stutter. For millions of people around the world, employer bias and discrimination can make job interviews an enormous barrier — sometimes preventing talented people from getting the opportunities they deserve.

Research shows that people who stutter can face higher unemployment, work fewer hours when employed and earn less than people who do not stutter, with women who stutter particularly affected.

This is where 50 Million Voices comes in.

Our global Practice Interview events give people who stutter the opportunity to practise interviews in a safe, supportive environment, build confidence and focus on showing employers who they really are and what they can offer.

Our events have already supported hundreds of participants from more than 30 countries across five continents, and demand continues to grow.

Here’s some wonderful feedback from our March 2026 Practice Interview event:

"It was an amazing and therapeutic experience for me… With this positive experience, I now feel psychologically safer with less social anxiety when I am moving on to my next career." (Interviewee)

"Self-confidence in who I am, even if I stutter. It helped me focus more on the content and my authenticity than appearing 'fluent'." (Interviewee)

"I have a horrible habit of being so excited to make my own point that I occasionally cut people off. This experience has made me stop and ensure that I listen right to the last word instead of assuming I know the end of the sentence." (Interviewer)

And sometimes the impact goes even further:

"The candidates I worked with were outstanding. I have sent some jobs to one of my interviewees and she has an interview for one of the roles next week which I am so excited about." (Interviewer)

Walk with us on our 2026 Thames Path Challenge and, by fundraising for 50 Million Voices, you’ll help us deliver more Practice Interview events and give more people who stutter the opportunity to build their confidence, demonstrate their talents and move closer to securing the job they want — perhaps even the job of their dreams.
