Sara's 5 Mile Charity Swim

ESCAPE recognises the need for families to have opportunities to spend quality time doing fun things together – not just the child with the disability. Families often find themselves, through no fault of their own, excluded, mis-understood, and, sometimes, subject to prejudice, simply because of the additional needs of their child(ren). We aim to redress that balance by empowering and enabling families - allowing them the opportunity to visit locations, experience events, and participate in activities which might otherwise be unavailable to them. Our remit is to provide fun activities, allowing the children the opportunity to experience a positive childhood where they are integrated fully, and are able to share experiences that will enhance and enrich their lives, which other children and families often take for granted. These activities boost morale, increase confidence and self-esteem, improve social skills, decrease behavioural difficulties and develop and strengthen friendships.  

Story

As you may know, the incredible Somerset Songbirds have already raised over £1250 for Escape! However, one of their members has decided to raise more! Sara is taking on a five mile swim challenge over the course of 5 weeks. This will take place at Taunton pool on: Sep 27th, Oct 11th and Nov 22nd AND at 1610 Bridgwater on: Oct 23rd and Nov 6th. This is an impressive challenge and we would love if you could show your support to Sara and in doing so, supporting Escape.

WHO?

ESCAPE SUPPORT GROUP aims to extend opportunities and support to families of children who have additional needs, within Somerset.

We bring the whole family together to spend quality time with like minded people. Our events boost morale, increase confidence, improve social skills and create new friendships.

We organise day trips, exclusive swim sessions, monthly clubs, plus an 'annual special' trip away.

Escape also organise events specifically for carers, including coffee mornings, days out and a weekend away.
