Why are we fundraising?

We are 5th Woodbridge Sea Scouts, and we are raising money towards the build of our new HQ. Planning permission has recently been granted, which means we now need to raise £400,000 to make our dream a reality. Our group is has been running for over 50 years, is affiliated to the Royal Navy and currently provides skills for life for over 160 young people in Suffolk.

Our new HQ will allow us to offer more young people the opportunities of scouting. Included in the plans are new changing rooms, showers and disabled facilities. What’s more, we want the HQ to become a community asset for the people of Woodbridge, and will encourage other youth organisations in Suffolk and beyond to hire the facilities as a base for water activities on the River Deben.

What are we doing?

To help fund the build of our new HQ, we are asking our supporters to sponsor a brick in return for a donation of £50. As a thank you for your generous contribution, an engraved plaque with the wording of your choice will be affixed to a patrons’ wall within our current building in Tide Mill Way. This could be for yourself, as a present for a loved one, or in memory of someone who has passed away. Once our HQ is built, the plaques will be moved across to take pride of place in the new building, forming a lasting legacy to our patrons, and acting as an example of charitable generosity for future generations of Scouts.

How it works...

Please type a message of no more than 100 characters long within your donation comment box. For example:

"5WSS are the the best Scout group in the world. Its young people, leaders and supporters are amazing!"

or

"Wishing 5th all the best from the Smiths!"

Then email your message, along with your name and telephone number to chairman@5wss.org.uk.

Then, after about three months, we'll engrave your and other plaques, fixing them to our patrons’ wall. We’ll then send you a photo of your plaque in all its glory.
