About Travel Training
Travel training enables young people with learning and other disabilities to travel safely and independently between home and school or college using public transport. Ealing Mencap provides travel training in the Borough of Hounslow, and over the past five years, we have successfully trained more than 250 young people to become independent travellers across Ealing, Hounslow, Hillingdon, and Slough. We believe this is a service that should be available to all young people with special educational needs.
Through Travel Training, young people with learning disabilities can:
Build confidence travelling from home to school or college on public transport
Learn about road safety
Understand when and how to safely ask for help
Practice solving problems they might face on public transport
Develop an important life skill for adulthood
