Age UK Derby and Derbyshire provide information and services across Derbyshire and Derby to help local older people love later life. We are an independent charity as well as a member of the Age England Association and a brand partner with Age UK.

Story

Di had a serious fall in 2018 and it really knocked her confidence, which made her inactive for the fear of falling. Di challenged that fear by climbing Snowdonia with Jo Briggs and other colleagues from Age UK Derby and Derbyshire. Post Covid, Di noticed the frailty of some people coming out of lockdown, and how the confidence of older people had been affected, Di works with older people at Age UK Derby and Derbyshire and is inspired to prove to all the older people she works with that age is just a number. On her journey back to fitness, her confidence has improved and now approaching her 60th birthday she is going to go out of her comfort zone and is challenging herself to take on this run with the help of her coach and colleague, Jo Briggs.

The run: Di shall be running from the Heanor Age UK Derby and Derbyshire shop, to the Age UK Chaddesden Park Centre, this is just over 10k. She shall be running it with some of the members of All About Jogging and Fitness Fun group, along with colleagues and friends.

Funds raised will be split 50/50 between Age UK Derby and Derbyshire and All About Jogging fitness group.
