Closes 31/12/2025
Take on the 77 Challenge and move 77 kilometres for BCHC Charity!
In celebration of the NHS turning 77 on 5 July, BCHC Charity are hosting the 77 Challenge to raise funds for therapy bikes for inpatient wards across BCHC. To take part, all you need to do is walk, run, cycle or swim 77km between June and September, and get sponsored to do so. Click the orange ‘Start Fundraising’ button to get started!
The 77 Challenge is designed so that anyone of any ability can take part; you can choose to walk, run, swim or cycle, and you can even use a stationary bike if outdoor riding isn’t for you! You can keep track of your distances and post them as updates on your fundraising page so all your supporters can cheer you along.
The therapy bikes will help patients on wards at Moseley Hall Hospital and intermediate care centres such as Ann Marie Howes centre to recover after an illness or injury by enabling them to perform joint movements, strengthening exercises for their muscles, and generally get more physical activity during their stay under BCHC care. This will boost morale and improve wellbeing, as well as helping to regain the ability to perform day-to-day activities such as washing and dressing, eating and drinking, transfers and walking. Ultimately, this gives patients the best opportunity to improve quality of life and independence and to return home or to a more supportive place.
Birmingham Community Healthcare (BCHC) NHS Foundation Trust provides community health services across the city; from health visiting to palliative care, rehabilitation centres to bedded units, dental care to learning disabilities services, and much more! BCHC cares for patients of all ages across the city.
BCHC Charity's mission is to enhance patient experience and improve their time within the care of BCHC services by funding the extras that are not covered by the core NHS funds. We've renovated garden areas for patients and staff, funded beautiful murals for staff rooms and bereavement suites, provided sensory equipment for learning disabilities services, entertained inpatients with music, magic and days out, and loads more!
By taking part in the 77 Challenge, you'll be helping us continue in our mission to enhance patient experience on inpatient wards by providing therapy bikes across the Trust.
Any money raised over and above the cost of the therapy bikes required will be banked into the BCHC Charity Adults & Specialist Rehab (ASR) Fund, to go towards other charity projects to improve patient care and enhance their experience within ASR services.
