Story
We’re bringing together colleagues from the Ambulance, Fire and Police services for a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Everyone Active, Taunton.
The challenge is to climb 110 floors – representing the number of floors firefighters climbed inside the World Trade Centre on 11 September 2001. We’ll be completing the challenge in uniform, with operational kit, as a mark of respect for the emergency responders who went to work that morning and never came home.
It’s about remembering those who lost their lives, recognising the courage and sacrifice of emergency service personnel, and bringing our services together in their memory.
Alongside the memorial element, we’ll also be raising funds for the South Western Ambulance Charity, helping support ambulance staff, volunteers and our communities.
It promises to be a challenging but very special event, and one we hope people will get behind, join in and support.
(Due to shift work considerations and operational commitments, the challenge can be completed either on Friday 11th September, or the days around that date).
