LFC fan Gary Butcher will be undertaking a 5k walk / run on 97 consecutive days to raise money for the LFC Foundation and the Hillsborough Survivors Support Alliance. The challenge will start on 9th January 2026 and conclude on 15th April 2026, to coincide with the 37th anniversary of the tragedy. The starting and finishing point will be at the Hillsborough memorial on 97 Avenue at Liverpool Football Club stadium. The plan for the first day of the event is to set off around 12:00 from the memorial and walk to the Hillsborough monument memorial located close to St Johns Gardens in the city, via Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium. The final day will be the same route, but in the reverse direction to complete the challenge with a moment of quiet reflection in front of the memorial at Anfield. Gary chose the route for the first day and final day to reflect that this tragedy united both Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs and the community.
