Story

The Coronavirus pandemic has put restrictions on to older people at most risk of contracting the virus, which is having a secondary impact on the health of older people. Our Care and Wellbeing Centres have been temporarily closed to protect the health and safety of clients, staff and volunteers. Prohibiting access to these physical Centres has led to serious problems: loss of function - mobility and balance especially as a result of moving around less; pain from untreated medical conditions that will often have got worse these last few months; and the psychological impact of living with so much stress, uncertainty and isolation, leading to increased loneliness among other problems (AGEUK,2020).

Many older people remain frightened to go out regardless of the lifting of shielding measures which has caused involuntary social isolation. We are determined to continue to protect our vulnerable clients while preventing social isolation and loneliness through enablement services such as accompanied walking and companionship visits.

We are calling on the public to donate towards our appeal to help us provide provisions to alleviate the impact of COVID19.

Donations will go towards whatever is needed from coordinating regular telephone check-ins to delivering home visits/ shopping/general domestic support. We aim to provide a 'one-stop-shop' for any older person in Hampshire to feel they have somewhere to turn regardless of the Pandemic.

We encourage individuals to be proactive in keeping themselves up to date on the latest information and guidance from Government to keep themselves and the vulnerable members of our community safe! - https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
