A Proper Northern Do!

There have been many events that have raised funds to support Jimmy's legacy but always centred around Wellington College. To celebrate my 60th Birthday we thought it was about time we held something in the North, A Proper Northern Do!

Wellington College is keen to support the expertise and energy of charitable organisations. We do this by raising money throughout the academic year, through fundraising intitiatives led by our students and staff. We hope that you will be inspired by our campaigns.

Story

A charity fundraiser for The Jimmy Higham Bursary Fund and The Oddballs Foundation

The Village on the Green Aspull, Wigan WN2 1PJ

Saturday 25th April 7.30 pm

Rather than charge for tickets for what promises to be a great night of entertainment, we would ask you to donate via this JustGiving page.

Jimmy was a local lad who attended the local primary school and Standish High School. A talented sportsman he played for Aspull RFC and Lancashire Schools at all age groups.

When he was 16 he received a scholarship at Rossall School to board, study for his A-levels and captain the 1st XV. This experience changed his focus and made him aim to be the best that he could be.

After studying for a Sports degree at Durham University he began work as a PE Teacher at the prestigious Wellington College.

James was diagnosed with testicular cancer and passed away at the age of 26.

The Jimmy Higham Bursary Fund was established to allow other young sportsmen to have a similar stimulating and challenging A-level education at Wellington, arguably one of the premier schools in the world.

We will also be raising funds tonight for The Oddballs Foundation which was established to educate young men about testicular cancer.
