Story

Get ready to raise some funds by dropping 190 feet to support the work of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland!

It is all scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 31st, 2021 in Smithfield, Dublin.

We are looking for brave and capable people who want to do something a little bit different whilst raising money for brain injury survivors. This will be Acquired Brain Injury Ireland's first ever abseil event.

The challenge will be to abseil down the iconic Skyview Tower so this is truly a unique opportunity! It will be well worth it for the breath-taking unobstructed views of Dublin stretching as far as Howth and Killiney. This huge red brick tower dominates the Smithfield skyline and is the former chimney for the Jameson Distillery.

We are partnering with an expert abseil team who will get you harnessed up and ready so you can abseil down the tower from the viewing platform. The ultimate buzz not to be missed!!!

To take part in this amazing experience we are asking for a registration fee of 20.

Register now on : https://www.abiireland.ie/events/abseil

We will then ask all participants to set themselves a fundraising target of a minimum of 200. This will guarantee that the cost of the abseil is covered and that fundraising will be raised for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland's work.

To fundraise you can set up a fundraising page here JustGiving and ask everyone you know to donate to show their support for your daring efforts and help Acquired Brain Injury Ireland.

You must be over 16 years of age and physically fit to take part.

Places are limited and we want to maximise funds from such a special event. We can provide sponsorship cards and we encourage fundraising online.

If you have any questions or would like any more information, please just email us at fundraising@abiireland.ie or call (01) 280 4164.

How it works:

Register now and begin fundraising immediately. Let everyone know that you'll be taking part in this unique and exciting event this May.

Be sure that you are fit and able for climbing the tower stairs and then descending by abseil on the day. Be confident before signing up that you will raise at least 200 in fundraising before Sunday, October 31st, 2021.

After you register, you'll be assigned a time to attend once it is confirmed. You will be met by a member of Acquired Brain Injury staff as well as the expert abseil team we are partnering with.

On the day, Make your way to the base of the tower in Dublin's Smithfield. You cant miss it! You will walk to the top of the tower where you'll be secured in a harness and then abseil the 190 feet to the bottom.

Just don't look down!

We are keeping in mind that the event will go ahead in keeping with the latest Covid-19 public health measures at the time. So be aware that the event could be postponed depending on Covid-19 Circumstances.
