Story
We have been very fortunate to have been able to acquire a four bed house next door to Colchester Nightshelter. Our aim is to accommodate Nightshelter residents who are eager to return to employment, giving them reasonably priced accommodation for 6 months so that they are able to build up their resources in order to move on to more permanent housing. The Nightshelter will continue to support the residents during this time so that we can help them achieve their best outcome.
Alun Richards worked as a support worker at Colchester Nightshelter for over 20 years but sadly died from cancer in February. Al was well loved and respected by colleagues and residents and had an unwavering commitment to supporting the homeless. It has been a dream of ours for many years to be able to provide this type of accommodation to run alongside and complement the work of the Nightshelter and we feel naming the house Al's Annexe is a fitting tribute to such a lovely chap.
Any donations received will be used for the upkeep and maintenance of Al's Annexe. Thank you.
