Angel Comedy Trust aim to:
use comedy to enrich and strengthen our community and the lives of individuals; run comedy courses improving literacy, confidence building and self-expression; improve accessibility and inclusivity for all to the arts; support new and emerging artists.
Our current fundraising ask is to support comedy classes for kids in Islington, in partnership with ComedyClub4Kids.
We know that teaching kids the skills needed for comedy also helps them to learn to stand tall; to be comfortable on the stage, and in themselves. We can give bullied kids the armour of self- confidence, draw out the quiet ones, calm down the noisy ones, and show them all how to shine.
Our workshops will be for Islingtons children and young people aged 7-18. Our teachers will guide children and young people from Islingtons schools to write and perform comedy, finding the funny in their own experiences and turning it into stand-up and sketches.
Comedy classes for kids is just the start for the Trust. Were committed to using comedy to help make the world a better place. We believe that comedy can help build community in Islington and beyond. We want to see comedy in old peoples homes, in homeless shelters, in refugee centres. We want to help aspiring comedians, including bursary support to help talented comedians take it to the next level and lobbying to ensure that comedy is recognised as an art form on a par with more established art forms.
