Story

Help our Christmas Stars unite people with sight loss through sport!

British Blind Sport has been working hard throughout the pandemic to ensure that every blind and partially sighted person in the UK has the opportunity to get active and improve their mental as well as their physical health. Christmas is the season of giving and, with your help, we can continue to support and encourage more people with sight loss to be active in 2022!

"In May I went through a period of poor mental health which I know would have been so much worse if I didn't have BBS' fitness classes."

"Lockdown has been incredibly hard for our family. BBS gave myself and our daughter the confidence and the tools to follow a series of exercises that the whole family could join in with."

It can be hard to take that first step, but physical activity really does make you feel better. Feeling socially connected is also important and there are opportunities out there for everyone to be active and be part of an active community.

Sport has so many fantastic benefits such as lowering your risk of major illnesses, increasing your confidence, and improving your mood. This year's Christmas Stars, Sibel (9) and John (20) hope to inspire others to get active and raise awareness for the charity.

BBS First Steps is helping Sibel keep active and has empowered her to take part in sport and make new friends! Click here to read her story.

Sport plays an important role in John's life. He wants to help inspire other young people to be active! Click here to read his story.

There are plenty of ways that you can support us, and as a small charity, you'll know that your contribution is going directly towards the people who need it. It's quick and easy to make a donation. You can give in the following ways:

Click the 'Donate Now' button at the top or bottom of this page to make your donation and help us reach our target.

Text Giving - text 'GIVE5' or 'GIVE10' to 70085 to donate £5 or £10 via your mobile phone. If you wish to donate a different amount, simply replace the numbers in the message e.g. 'GIVE3' donates £3 or 'GIVE20' donates £20.

*Please note, this text will cost you your donation amount plus a standard network rate message on your mobile phone bill.

We are very grateful for any and all support this holiday season. We'd also like to thank iPROSPORT and charitable trusts for supporting the Christmas Appeal. For every £1 you give, they will match it so your donation is doubled!
