FEBRUARY 2022 UPDATE

Although this campaign goes back a while, we are still treating Billy for his injuries he has now just had the BIG operation on his left hind leg he was in surgery for 5.5 hours.

Even though the vet tried to carry out a simpler surgery he unfortunately had to do the bigger operation that took more time and cost more money. Fortunately, we had reached the target of our campaign so the cost of the operation has been raised.

Once Billy has recovered from the operation, he may need hydrotherapy so the campaign has been reinstated and the target will be increased accordingly and we will be asking for your kind help.

The price of a cup of coffee or just £1 any amount at all would be gratefully appreciated.

After all Billy has been through, it would be lovely to give him the best life possible. He deserves it.

BILLY'S STORY

Meet the lovely BILLY

He was brought to the UK in December and was in foster care but is now in kennels.

Poor Billy hasn't got a happy past story......

Back in 2017 when Billy was first found he had been hit by a car and had 4 broken legs and struggled to move them.

Today Billy has had x-rays which showed that his;

FRONT LEFT LEG had a broken elbow which has healed but he has no elbow joint function - the limb is stable.

BACK RIGHT LEG pelvis and hip were broken, his hip is in a good position but he has limited extension - shouldn't need any intervention

BACK LEFT LEG knee is shattered, the patella is displaced laterally which means the knee is not working at all - This is the joint which will be the main focus.

Billy's x-rays have been sent to an orthopaedic surgeon for assessment.

He will need to lose 5-6kgs before treatment.

MOVING ON

After speaking to the vet he is certain that BILLY must be in pain especially in his left hind leg which has a shattered knee cap that's moving to the outside of his leg which means his knee is not working. It would be a massive benefit to get his knee cap repaired and back into place. The surgery could be complicated because of the damage to the knee socket and the vet may have to fashion a new knee socket to hold the displaced knee cap in place.

As stated before Billy needs to lose some weight before the operation can go ahead so we are estimating the surgery to be in early May, the cost of the surgery is going to be £2,640.00, which is a charity fixed price.

Poor BILLY has had to live with this situation and pain for over 3 years so let's make his future a lot happier than his past by raising money for his vital surgery.
