Did you know around a third of women in the UK experience traumatic childbirth? The Birth Trauma Association supports families who suffer the effects of birth trauma, a shorthand term for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after birth.
Why does this matter to me?
Birth Trauma Awareness Week 2020 runs from Monday 7th to 13th September and is focused on peoples journeys through the after-effects of birth trauma:
- The path to healing (both psychically and mentally)
- Coming to terms with a rocky journey into motherhood
- Navigating relationship changes (partner intimacy, baby bonding, etc.)
- Finding justice/closure
Throughout the week well be sharing stories, expertise and help via podcasts, articles, and live Q&As. Were also running the BTA #babystepschallenge on social media, and will be encouraging volunteers to raise funds to
support our vital work.
How can I help?
1) The easy option = donate directly on this campaign page.
2) The fun option = take our theme of 'journeys' and literally run with it! Or walk, toddle, shuffle, climb... It doesn't have to be a big commitment - any type of sponsored activities will so very welcomed.
Every journey starts with that first baby step, and every little counts.
Thank you!
