Story

Hannah's Story:

I currently loan BTRC Fruit and Nut (Flo) from The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre (BTRC) and will be running the London Marathon on behalf of the BTRC. Im 25 and working as a junior doctor in the East Midlands. Ive been running long distances for over a year but this will be my first marathon. Having visited the Centre numerous ocassions to try Flo, I can see the hard work and dedication the team have towards rehabilitating the horses. The rehoming process and vulnerable horses scheme shows how important it is to support the charity and how essential their work is to aid throughbreds leaving the racing industry. Wish me luck!

More about The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre:

Established in 1991, BTRC is the original Centre in the UK dedicated to the Rehabilitation, Retraining and Rehoming of Racehorses. As the largest Centre in Britain, BTRC leads the field in Thoroughbred Aftercare and continues to improve and promote the welfare of retired racehorses through education, retraining and suitable rehoming to ensure that Thoroughbreds have a rewarding and valuable life after their racing careers have ended. BTRC is an accredited BHS Retraining Centre, a long standing member of the National Equine Welfare Council and are supported by British Racing.

About the charity

The BTRC is dedicated to racehorse welfare, retraining, rehoming & protection for life. Thousands of horses leave racing each year and many face an uncertain future. The BTRC provides an environment where these horses can be re-educated and retrained for use in other equestrian disciplines.
