More then 40 flats have been burnt out completely and luckily no major casualties. The authority is working very closely and keeping everyone safe.
On Sunday 9th June at 3.30pm a fire engulfed 6 floors across a block of flats in De Pass Gardens, Barking with 15 fire engines and over 100 firefighters called to tackle the blaze. The London Fire Brigade tweeted that the "ground floor to the sixth floor are alight" before stating the fire was under control around 6 pm, whilst there have been no reported injuries.
Over 18 flats have been destroyed, with many of the victims children. The cause of the fire has not currently been established but numerous families have been displaced and are being supported by the local residents' association and the Thames View Community Centre.
