Story
We are excited to share with you our plans to create a school eco-area in our enclosed field behind the Early Years building. We believe this garden will serve as a wonderful way to bring our school community together and promote an eco-friendly lifestyle for all of the children at Bessacarr Primary.
Looking into the future, we plan to create various vegetable patches including potatoes, pumpkins and lettuce amongst other delicious foods. We would also like to house some chickens. We think this will give our pupils a unique opportunity to find out where and how our food is grown.
We will be organising some fundraising events to make our Eco-Area a reality, starting with a Dance-a-thon. This will help us to raise money to purchase the resources to make this a success! This garden will not only provide our students with a beautiful outdoor space to explore and learn, but we are also hoping to use the produce in our kitchens, cooking lessons and also for you!
We aim to raise £4000. This will help us to start our garden by providing tools, a greenhouse, planters and other items such as wheelbarrows, water butts, compost, bark, composters which will help with the upkeep of our school growing patch. The chicken coop will be an anti-predator, easy clean and free range area made from recycled materials. It will accommodate 5-6 chickens.
