The last restoration of Bettws Chapel took place in 1893 and the appearance you see today is very much from this era. Consequently, with the passing of time the elements have taken their toll on this Grade II listed building which is no longer water tight.
Thanks to grants from Heritage Lottery Fund, National Churches Trust, All Churches Trust, Diocese of Monmouth and the Representative Body of the Church in Wales, stage 1 of the project will begin in April when the roof and roof timbers are replaced.
This will then be followed by further work on the boundary walls, internal decoration and repairs to the churchyard.
